So during the year of my 67th birthday, I decided I needed a Wisconsin toy I could afford, and bought a kayak. She’s a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120. I call her “Sudden Impulse II,” the first Sudden Impulse being a 27 ft. stern drive motor boat that could sleep six and had a galley. She ate money like nothing I have ever seen!

Sudden Impulse II is meant for touring, no white water beyond Class II Rapids. For my purposes, this is the kind of kayak I needed. I’m a rookie. I wanted something stable; this is wide. I wanted it to track easily, and this does. Most of all, I wanted to be sure I could get out if I tipped over. You see the large cockpit. You go out automatically so you do not need to learn the fancy rollovers the white water kayakers need.

This gives you a look at the hull design.
The year 2011 was my first with the kayak. I’ll present a photo gallery of various rivers and lakes I visit with her. I will also create a separate section for photos of others in more daring kayak maneuvers than this boater will take.
Look to the sub-menus on the left to choose the stretch of water that interests you.

Captain Ed! Hope you enjoy.
